“A place where you can breathe in the sea at the top of your lungs.

Where it is located

Nautilux is a 5-star luxury resort on the northern coast of the beautiful island of Crete, in Rethymnon. Recently built, it is part of the Mage Hotels & Resorts chain and is the ideal place for travellers seeking a combination of relaxation, beach, luxury and exploration.

Design and mood

The architecture – and the name – of Nautilux Luxury Resort is inspired by the shape of the Nautilus seashell: the spiral architectural design is combined with modern colours, and together they create an elegant, yet cosy and refreshing ambience, sealing the link with the sea it overlooks.

Room style

The rooms are elegant and minimal, with a modern, innovative design and soft colours that give the whole a relaxing atmosphere.Marble details alternate with wooden ones, with special plays of reflection and light that amplify the space, making it airy. Inside, guests are greeted by a personalised message and a breathtaking view of the communal pool and the sea. The rooms and suites are divided into categories: Standard, Patio, Classic, Verdant, Superior, Executive, Junior, Deluxe, Maisonette and Nautilux Master Suite.

The common areas

The lobby is bright and welcoming, and communicates directly with the lounge bar and restaurant. In this space, there are artistic artefacts tracing the ancient history of Crete, as well as a small smart-working area with desks, computers and books. Other common areas include the two outdoor pools, the delightful spa area, the small gym and the beautiful private beach.

Services

All-round wellness experiences, ranging from spa treatments to yoga classes to aqua aerobics on the beach. Room service is always available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. During the season, local music performances and guided experiences are scheduled, and it is possible to hire bikes and boats for excursions. In addition, it is possible to use the gym by appointment. The beach, with parasol and sun loungers, is included in the room rate. Fast, working wi-fi is available in every area.

Technology experience

In order to guarantee an experience of maximum comfort to its guests, optimise the internal operations of the staff, and minimise the resort’s consumption, Nautilux Luxury Resort chose to install the VDA Telkonet Group’s technological solutions in all its rooms and take its business to a high level of technological innovation.

VDA’s Room Management System, complemented with smart switches, manages access control, lighting and temperature, giving each room a combination of design, technology, beauty and intelligence that is perfectly integrated with the dominant modern and stylistic character. Through this automation system, the guest can manage the temperature intuitively, avoiding waste that would lead to a greater impact of the facility on the planet.

Finally, thanks to the presence of Interactive TVs with VDA’s PowerTV ONAIR integration, the guest not only has the possibility of accessing the Internet, viewing the weather forecast, or listening to the radio, but also of booking Room Service and other services at the hotel.

Eco-sustainability

The hotel demonstrates a concrete focus on sustainability, ranging from the architecture of the building, energy saving, the choice of local products and the promotion of the region, to internal sustainability with regard to the work of the staff. Its commitment is active and aims at ambitious goals: in the coming years, it aspires to become a 100% sustainable hotel.

The architecture of the Hotel is in continuous communication with the surrounding nature. Large windows allow light to illuminate the rooms naturally. An energy class A hotel, equipped with LED lighting and photovoltaic panels for the use of solar energy, and fully equipped with VRF heating pumps that offer maximum efficiency with minimum energy consumption for temperature management inside the hotel.

The choice of products is meticulously prepared by the Hotel’s chef, who selects the best local and seasonal ingredients to ensure an authentic, quality dining experience. The buffet is rich in traditional Cretan/Greek dishes, but also offers international alternatives. A recycling policy is enforced in every room of the hotel, and there are tablets in each room to avoid excessive use of paper when communicating information. Laundry washing policies are also communicated to avoid the excessive use of chemicals. The creation of an automatic sprinkler system for the sustainable care of garden plants is planned in the near future.
