“Style and design in the heart of Manhattan for modern travellers.

Where it is located

In the heart of Manhattan, the Hotel Moxy Chelsea is located in the neighbourhood of the same name in the part bordering KoreaTown. This area is home to several hotels that are considered among the coolest in New York. It is about 9 minutes from the Empire State Building and 10 minutes from the Flatiron Building. On the 35th floor is one of the most sought-after rooftops in New York for its exclusive evening parties, from which you can enjoy a 360° view of Manhattan.

Design and mood

Belonging to the Manriott chain, the hotel presents a modern style with a touch of irreverence that draws inspiration from Italian interior design while maintaining a typical New York character. What makes the first impact with the hotel striking are the huge windows on the first three levels, from which one of the bars overlooks a vertical garden. Despite the number of rooms, one has the impression of staying more in a boutique hotel than in a large hotel.

Room style

The rooms, in a modern style with industrial overtones, are more or less all the same size and spacious considering the standard of New York hotels. This is also thanks to a series of expedients that have been adopted in the room’s furnishings, such as the bed with a series of storage spaces, the desk and chair folding and attached to the wall, and the washbasin with useful shelves positioned inside the room. The contemporary room, which is the room where the contributor stayed, is very spacious and the king-size bed very comfortable. Modern furnishings with a spacious bathroom equipped with a bathtub. Very good cleanliness.

The common areas

The facility has several common areas with no less than three rooms, plus a restaurant, each with its own identity. The lobby is multifaceted, i.e. depending on the time of day it transforms into a coworking space or a cool place to meet for drinks or food in the evening. The rooftop is certainly the feather in the cap of the structure and at weekends there is no shortage of special evenings attended by many New Yorkers, perfect therefore to immerse oneself in the real life of the Big Apple.

Services

The hotel has three different venues available: a cafeteria, a bar with a comfort food menu on the lobby level, and a cocktail bar on the rooftop. In the cafeteria on the ground floor, which is also open to those outside the hotel, guests can enjoy free coffee throughout the day. Completing the food and drink experience is a restaurant offering a menu inspired by Italian cuisine (complete with a wood-fired oven). The hotel also has a gym for guests’ use and valet parking is available for those travelling by car for a fee. The Wi-Fi connection is to all intents and purposes very efficient and fast, not for nothing is it called ‘Furiosly and fast’.

Technology experience

Some details of technological innovation make the experience optimised: room entrance with card reading system, and the internal presence of card holders and individual management of room air conditioning, which, thanks to Energy Management systems, is oriented towards reducing consumption. The smart TV features a welcome message, access to a menu listing the hotel’s services and useful tips for visiting and experiencing the city. Guests can also connect to Netflix.

Eco-sustainability

Moxy Chelsea does not excel when it comes to sustainability efforts. Indeed, inside the rooms the contributor found plastic water bottles and duty-free accessories, such as soap or shampoo dispensers, in disposable plastic bottles.

I grew up in a small town in Brianza, a little-known area north of Milan for many people. I live between Monza and Lecco, but I would like to have a Canadian passport, a country that I now feel is like a second home.
