Where it is located

Located in the International District, Hotel Monville enjoys a strategic location, being a 5-minute walk from the Old Town and only a few minutes from the modern Downtown.

Design and mood

A modern, contemporary style characterised by essential lines that make it very elegant without being ‘brash’. What is striking is the volume of the lobby with a very high ceiling bordered by very high windows.

Room style

The contributor tested two types of rooms: the standard room, very basic, and the corner suite, with a strong appeal. In the second one, there are large windows on the two corner walls that make it look as if it were suspended. Being located on a high floor, there is a good view from the room.

The common areas

The lobby is bright and welcoming, and communicates directly with the lounge bar and restaurant. In this space, there are artistic artefacts tracing the ancient history of Crete, as well as a small smart-working area with desks, computers and books. Other common areas include the two outdoor pools, the delightful spa area, the small gym and the beautiful private beach.

Services

All-round wellness experiences, ranging from spa treatments to yoga and water aerobics classes on the beach, room service, local music performances, guided experiences, bike and boat hire. It is also possible to use the gym by prior arrangement. The beach, with parasol and sun loungers, is included in the room rate. Fast, working wifi is available in every area.

Technology experience

Technological hotel offering innovative services to its guests: room service carried out by a robot; the presence of dual smart TV monitors with a welcome message, access to a menu of hotel services, useful directions for visiting the city and the possibility of connecting to Netflix; windows that can be blacked out with a system of electronically motorised curtains; entry to the room with a card reading system, card holder inside the room and individual climate control; finally, check-in and check-out that can be managed via mobile phone or carried out through a robot-kiosk present in the lobby H24 to speed up processes and improve comfort for guests.

Eco-sustainability

The hotel’s commitment to sustainability is almost non-existent: the only visible element is the classic written invitation to guests about reduced towel consumption.
